Lesson in Layering

Wearing: Vintage Jumpsuit (from Screaming Mimi's) - Similar | Topshop Vest | MinkPink Sweater - Similar | Yigal Azrouel Coat | Schutz Shoes | Heather Belle Co. Infinity Necklace

In this lesson of layering, we focus on simplicity and minimalistic changes. Step 1: a sophisticated vintage black jumpsuit, also very versatile (modern version here). Adding on a chunky knit for added warmth, step 2 calls for casual comfort. In step 3 we are taking this look out and about, needing to spice things up a bit with this structured white leather vest (that can be found in stores and Topshop of H&M trend if you're lucky). Last but not least, it's freaking cold outside so bundle up in your winter coat and throw on a beanie to complete the look. Lesson in layering, complete.

Puddle Jumping

Wearing: Uniqlo Pants | Joes Jeans Shirt | Urban Renewal Vest | YSL Shoes

In the spirit of puddle jumping (whatever that means) I bring you some plaidspiration. I couldn't believe these UNIQLO pants were only $20, and had clearly been searching for the perfect pair of plaid pants in all the wrong places (thanks Serena). I've also been lusting over long silhouettes lately, like this simple black vest that adds just the right hight to any outfit.

Winter Whites

Wearing: Rag and Bone Jeans | James Perse Long Sleeve | All Saints Beanie | EQIQ Jacket - Similar | Jean-Michel Cazabet Pumps

Here's the big question: how do we wear white jeans in the winter without looking, silly? A classic peacoat, darker color beanie, closed toe heels, suede gloves perhaps... boom. In my last post I asked you guys to share your Black Friday finds with me, and this is mine. These Rag and Bone jeans retail for much more than I got them for, trust me!

Lacey Legs

Wearing: Threadsence Pants | Vintage Sweater | Amarcord Vintage Jacket | OASIS Heels

This post is dedicated to one of my best friends Michelle Raitzin - an amazing up and coming singer who has big things in store.. seriously. I photographed Michelle today and styled her for some new photo's on her blog and looks for new projects. Check out her latest cover on youtube - SKYFALL - and subscribe to hear more!

In the Army

Wearing: ASOS Overalls | Zara Jacket (in stores) | F21 Necklace (in stores) | Rachel Roy Loafers

Couldn't you picture this being my uniform if I was in the army? The ASOS leather overalls would be perfect for protecting my well-moisturized skin from scrapes and bruises, and the jacket simply... looks right. Ok, so maybe it would have to be the type of army that took on a Black Friday sale, but still. I want to hear about everyone's Black Friday and Cyber Monday finds - so do share!

Btw, these pics are from when it was a bit warmer out, clearly.

Monday Morning

Vintage Rings from Beacon's Closet, Local Firm, Buffalo Exchange and the Manhattan Vintage Trunk Show.

Wearing: Zara Skirt & Sweatshirt | Commando Tights | Ash Wedges | 3.1 Phillip Lim Bag

Post Thanksgiving day food coma I'm a little weary of "baring all" - which is why I know I can turn to my commando tights to save the day. I'm telling you guys, I will swear by these tights up and down that they are the best stockings out there. Not only are they the perfect shade of black opaque, but the tummy control top shows no lines and hides all. If you don't believe me, go try them yourself. Hope everyone has a happy digest.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Wearing: H&M Sweater | Parker Leather Pants | H&M Beanie (in stores) | Cole Haan Loafers

Totally thankful for you guys today! Happy Thanksgiving! Oh, and watch this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2iv7QufAn0 CLASSIC.

Giving Thanks

Wearing: Zara SweaterJames Jeans | Juicy Couture Booties | Karen Walker Sunnies

It's almost that time of year again, where we stuff our face with mash potatoes and gravy, and try to avoid chopping our fingers off when cutting the turkey's tush for grandpa to eat. We go around the table, taking turns saying what we're thankful for, while the smallest cousin ties together all of our parents shoes. We play hide and seek, until someone gets hurt... and fight over the remote controls clicking on and off the football game. If this isn't what your Thanksgiving looks like - then well - it's definitely not as hilarious as mine. On a serious note - I wanted to tell all of you, my followers, that I am so so thankful for you supporting my blog and keeping me going! Have an amazing Thanksgiving guys!

According to the NY Times - Zara has our stamp of approval as the world's largest fashion retailer. Like most girls my age, I've been shopping Zara since it's very beginnings, and have watched it grow and develop into an amazing fast-fashion brand with highly anticipated collections each month. I think it would be safe to say about 20% of my wardrobe is from Zara too. I can't wait to add some of my favorite pieces from their latest Lookbook to my crammed and exploding closet (especially this plaid suit).

Outfit Roundup

Here's a roundup of my outfits from the past month - what's your favorite?

New Normal

Wearing: Honey Punch Dress (co StyleGodis) | Ash Wedge Booties - Similar | Urban Outfitters Beanie | Alexa Leigh Star Bracelet (co) | Giles & Brother Railroad Cuff

Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean you can't wear a dress. And, just because you wear a dress doesn't mean it has to look girly. I'm all about changing the expected norm in fashion - and creating a look that people respond to as "wow I would not have thought to put that together."

High Necks

Wearing: H&M Sweater (in stores now) | James Jeans | Lauren Marinis Pumps

So, I'm totally crushing on high neck sweaters these days (especially this little Argile number I just picked up from H&M). Inspired by Swedish street-style and the one and only Elin Kling - I'm lusting over this sophisticated yet completely casual look. Shop some of my favorite picks here below..
